Grandma's Hair

Those of you who know this Grandma, know the saga of
THE HAIR.

I was lucky enough to be born with curly hair.
In my younger years I kept my hair very long -
like, to my rear end long -
to pull out some of the curl.

Now I am a Grandma,
I no longer have the long hair of my youth.
Now, I have hair that is not only curly, but fuzzy.
Now, I have to spend an hour
every morning just to deal with
THE HAIR.

How this Grandma tries to win the battle of
THE HAIR
everyday.

First, I must wash it
and double condition it.
 It curls immediately.

Just Washed!

Then, in order to work with it, I let it air dry.

This is half dry.

This is all dry.

Are you crying yet?
Don't you feel sad that I have this hair?

[Ok. Ok. So you have string straight hair -
ask me if I care about your small problems!]

Then, I  apply hair lotion to calm down the frizzles.

Lotion

Next, I put a calming oil on that will hopefully
help my hair to lie down on my head.

Calming Oil

Now my head of hair is slightly calmer!

Now, comes the time consuming part.
I have to use a
BIG ROUND BARREL
curling iron.

Going for the BIG BARREL!

I have to leave the curling iron on
each small section of hair from 10-15 seconds - twice!

When that is all done,
I rest my tired arms for a minute.
Last of all,
I brush my hair,
after which I look into the mirror,
and then re-apply said curling iron
on parts that are still poking out.

Then, if I am lucky, I can style my hair
and finish my treatments off with a hair spray
that is supposed to keep
the moisture from my hair.

Finally, I apply some mascara
and a little lip color and I am ready to go.

Not bad for an old grandma person, I say.

And it lasts about a whole thirty minutes
at the most
before it begins to curl and fuzz again.

Oh, the unfairness of it all!
